Auto Berserk is what Red Alert becomes in this episode, when his logic circuits get messed up, and he doesn't know who's good or bad. This is good as a reminder; all of us can certainly get confused at times, and not really be conscious of good from bad or right from wrong. At the time of my writing this, I'm not sure if this was Red's first episode, but it certainly was the first story to focus on him.
It was fun to see Ironhide (and other Autobots too) mistake a real Fire Chief's car, for Red Alert; even though one might think that they would have been able to detect that it wasn't an Autobot, like the lack of the emblem -- or perhaps their powers of observation were just clouded by their desperation to find their friend. At any rate, it made for a good moment; with the look of embarrassment on Ironhide, as he puts down the Chief's car; followed by the chief's remark that he needs a vacation (I guess not all humans know about Transformers).
Some other good moments were: Ramjet knocking Megatron out of the Megavator; the look on Frenzy's face when Rumble aimed the Megavator at him and Optimus Prime; and all the Decepticon jets abandoning Megatron after Red Alert sets the Megavator on self-destruct.
Nitpics: A couple of big nitpicks in this episode. First, as mentioned in the Featured Characters above, when Soundwave is ejecting his tapes, and calling their names, he calls for Buzzsaw, but Laserbeak is ejected instead, and seen throughout the episode. The second was actually pointed out on the Region 1 DVD, in the bonus features, and that is in one scene on Red Alert's door it says "F D D", as opposed to "F ⌂ D" (where ⌂ is a Fire Dept. badge); click here to see a pic.
